Many Windows users rely heavily on the mouse for everyday tasks, but the operating system includes a wide range of keyboard shortcuts that can make navigation much faster.

Learning just a few of these shortcuts can save a surprising amount of time.

Windows Key + D

Pressing Windows + D instantly minimises all open windows and shows the desktop.

Pressing the same shortcut again restores your previous windows.

Windows Key + L

This shortcut locks your computer immediately, which can be helpful when stepping away from your desk.

It’s a quick way to keep your files and information protected.

Windows Key + Shift + S

This shortcut opens the snipping tool, allowing you to quickly capture screenshots of specific areas of your screen.

Screenshots can then be saved, edited, or shared.

Alt + Tab

Pressing Alt + Tab allows you to quickly switch between open programs or windows.

This is especially helpful when working with multiple applications at the same time.

Windows Key + Arrow Keys

Windows also includes shortcuts that help organise windows on the screen. Using the Windows key with the arrow keys allows you to snap windows to different parts of the screen.

This can make multitasking much easier.

Keyboard shortcuts may seem small, but they can significantly speed up everyday computer use.
